LA Fellows Event at the Getty (December 1, 2007)
 

December 2007 saw another successful event from the very active group of Fellows in the LA area, organized in part by SOF Council Member Michael Gruber FAAR '96. On this occasion SOF members received a behind-the-scenes tour of The Getty Center on the 10th anniversary of its opening. Each participant brought a small, useful, and interesting gift that was mailed to Rome and given to the 2008 Fellows at the December AAR Holiday Party.
 
Fellows of the American Academy in Rome, Class of 2006 (November 7, 2006)
 

A reception to celebrate the returning Fellows of the American Academy in Rome , Class of 2006 was held on Tuesday, November 7th, 2006 at the American Folk Art Museum in New York.
 
A Tour of the Botanical Gardens in Montecito, CA (October 28, 2006)
 

A tour in Montecito, CA of the botanical gardens of Madame Ganna Walska at LOTUSLAND, followed by a brunch hosted by
Diane Favro and Fikret Yegul at their home overlooking the Pacific Ocean.
 
"Simple Ideas for Small Buildings" (March 1, 2006)
 

A lecture by Allan Wexler, FAAR’05, Artist and Architect titled
"Simple Ideas for Small Buildings" was held on Wednesday, 1 March 2006 at The University of Texas at Austin School of Architecture in Austin, TX.
 
The Annual Conference of the College Art Association (February 24, 2006)
 

A reception on the occasion of the annual conference of the College Art Association was held on Friday, 24 February 2006 , at Boston Athenaeum in Boston, MA.

A reception to celebrate the returning 2005 Fellows was held on Tuesday, November 8th, 2005 at the American Folk Art Museum in New York.
 
Second Annual Fall Pot-Luck/Rome Holiday Dinner (November 5, 2006)
 


Ming Fung, FAAR 92 hosted the Second Annual Fall Pot-Luck/Rome Holiday Dinner on Saturday, 5 November 2005 , 7:00pm at the home in Hollywood, CA.
 
SOF - Los Angeles Fellows Planning Dinner (June 26, 2004)
 


A dinner organized by several of the Fellows in the Los Angeles area to plan Society of Fellow activities during the next year with the emphasis on engaging more of the Fellows in the region and encouraging their support of the SOF and AAR. The event was organized by Robert Gurval, Robert Gruber and Jim Bodnar.
 
"10 Years After the AAR" Reunion (May 10, 2004)

SOF-Sponsored New Year's Eve Party
 
New Year's Eve Party The first New Years Eve party sponsored by the Society of Fellows took place in the criptoporticus and then moved up to the roof to watch the fireworks over the city of Rome. The event was organized by Mason Bates and Yolande Daniels, with setup help by Mary Donyo, Michael Howerton, Roger Freitas, Susan Yelowich. Photographs are courtesy of Michael Howerton.

 
Susan and Peter Nitze May 13, 2003 Reception for Ed Hirsch, FAAR'89
 
Ed Hirsch, FAAR'89, was recently named president of the John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation.  On the evening of May 13, 2003, Susan and Peter Nitze had a reception at their apartment in New York to celebrate this honor, and at Ed's request, the event became an Academy reunion. FAAR OUT: Six Months in Rome Exhibition Opening (April 9, 2003)
 
On April 9, 2003, over 200 people attended the opening of FAAR OUT, an exhibition of works by Fellows in Design. Held at the Art Director's Club Gallery in New York, the exhibition was organized by Paul Davis, FD'98 and his wife, Myrna Davis, Director of the ADC. Paul Lewis, FA'99, designed the installation, and Derek Bermel, FM'02, arranged for a jazz trio and played a bass clarinet during the reception. Photographs are courtesy of Ric Gallaher.
